The Canon LP-E8 Battery Pack is a spare or replacement battery for the Canon EOS 550D and is the original battery supplied with the camera.
The EOS 550D battery compartment is located in the base of the hand grip behind a metal hinged plastic door. The battery fits horizontally into the base and is held in place by an white clip.

The 550D uses a new battery (the Canon LP-E8), which provides 4-level battery life information and is good for around 440 – 480 shots using the CIPA testing standard. In many respects the EOS 550D is a ‘baby EOS 7D’. As well as getting a resolution boost to a class-leading 18 megapixels and a significantly upgraded movie mode (which now offers full HD capture at up to 30 fps, has full manual control and the option to use an external stereo microphone), the EOS 550D gets the 7D’s sophisticated new metering system (bringing it a lot closer to similarly positioned Nikon SLRs). It also sports a new widescreen (3:2) LCD panel, has improved button design and finally offers the ability to customize the Auto ISO function.
As before Canon isn’t officially ‘replacing’ the EOS 500D with the new 550D, and for the foreseeable future the EOS 550D will sit in the range between the EOS 500D and the EOS 7D (ignoring for the moment the additional confusion of the EOS 50D, which the new camera out-specs in some areas). The changes are partly cosmetic (a very slightly different body shell design, tweaks to the buttons and mode dial), but the real changes are under the hood.

I was recently looking at the Canon Rebel EOS DigitalSLR Camera to buy and had to tell you what I found out.
This camera is one of the newest and technologically advanced cameras on the market today. This new 15.1 megapixal camera can take excellent still pictures as well as high definition videos. It is capable of capturing videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution and able to transfer these images and videos via an HDMI output to either a HDTV or computer monitor. The one drawback for videos is that you can hear the video motor running in the audio.
The viewing screen is 3″, which is larger than most. Also, the screen is anti-reflective and has a scratch resistant as well as a water resistant coating. This is a huge advancement from earlier models. Those you couldn’t even see in the daylight.
A memory card is also available to add images as well as videos. This is highly recommended when looking at any type of digital camera. There’s nothing worse than being on vacation and running out of storage and having to delete pictures to make room for new ones!
What makes this product nice is it’s compatibility with approximately 60 other Canon Ef/EF-S lenses. If you already have a Canon, there’s a good chance you can use the lenses you already have.
The camera also comes with a self timer with several interval choices and an auto lighting optimizer. I’ve seen pictures using the optimizer and it makes a world of difference.

I have been in this almost endless search for the ultimate digital SLR capable of satisfying my expectations. I want it to be able to produce wonderfully captured images plainly for my artistic and leisurely purposes. With all the many brands and newly-invented models of camera, I took time to study and choose based on the features each model takes pride on. Of course, you would not able to confirm the claims unless you get a firsthand experience of the product. So after purchasing a Canon EOS 7D, a digital SLR, I went outside and took several test shots.
What tantalizes me is this SLR’s 18 megapixel capture that absolutely delivers fine, sharp, and clear images. Despite the lengthy distance I must disregard just to capture my subject, the image comes out clear and strong. Even cropping will not hinder you in getting superb quality images. The huge megapixel power of 7D really got me hooked.
The focus is all right. Though not as defined and accurate as the other Canon digital SLR models, it exhibits a satisfactory performance that is acceptable for professional photographers. Anyway, it has an amazing ISO 100-6400 that enables you to capture images in different light settings. I have tried shooting my subject out in the portico an hour past sunset with a few lighting source around, and magnificently, I have achieved a wonderful effect with just little illumination available. Of course, the same applies when trying to capture in a normal bright setting. The colors burst in such a beautiful effect.
I was also quite impressed how this camera records HD quality videos. That is what I like about digital cameras; they can actually capture moving pictures.
It does not end there. The ability of capturing videos relies upon the fact that 7D is digital, but the process of fiddling with exposure is as manual as it gets. It still allows you to take in charge and do things on your own. In this way, you can experiment making movies in different levels of exposure, whatever pleases you. The video resolution can be up to 1920 x 1080. Just right for an HD movie.
I also do not have any problems with regard to its appearance and physical make up. Its body is made of magnesium, quite strong for any damage to effectuate. It is also light compared to other cameras’its advantage of being digital comes into play. I can just hang it around my neck like a long necklace with a huge pendant. Well, it looks so nice and light that you can comfortable wear it like it is a part of your clothing.
Personally, I find this digital SLR able to satiate my standards in taking photographs. I thought maybe sharing this information can help you with your quest for better photography experience.
