I bought the Fotodiox Pro Nikon F to Canon EOS lens adapter to experiment with using old Nikkor manual focus lenses on my Canon cameras. Fotodiox offers three models of Nikon F to EOS adapter; this is the mid-price one. I bought it because the cheapest one gets mixed reviews, with some people complaining that it doesn’t hold lenses tightly enough. Only the most expensive, on the other hand, includes a chip that allows your Canon camera to confirm focus by lighting up the AF points in the viewfinder. I chose this one because I wanted my lenses held firmly and I figured I could live without focus confirmation. (Also, the focus confirmation model costs twice as much, and I couldn’t find it on Amazon anyway. You can order it directly from Fotodiox if you like.)

This adapter does its job pretty well. It does indeed hold lenses firmly. My one fairly minor annoyance with the adapter is that it is kind of a pain to remove from a lens, and in fact you have to figure out how to remove it because there are no instructions provided. (There is a small black lever on the camera side of the adapter that you have to hold down to release the lens. It isn’t easy to press the lever down and twist the lens at the same time, but with a little practice you get used to it.)

Another thing that is worth knowing is that not all Nikon F lenses will actually mount and be usable on your Canon camera even with an adapter. This is not the adapter’s fault. Some lenses have parts that stick out the back end and may (on some camera models) interfere with the motion of the reflex mirror, or even prevent the lens from being attached by bumping into some part of the camera’s insides. It’s best to do some research online first to find out whether a lens you’re interested in will work with your camera.

The Fotodiox Pro adapter for Nikon Lens to canon EOS is great. All my Nikon Lenses fit perfectly onto my Canon 5D Mark II. I had to shoot everything manual since the lens can’t “talk” to the body with the adapter but I prefer shooting manual so no complaints. For the price and the fact you can use all your Nikon’s on the Canon, it’s a no brainer.

I was skeptical that I could use my Nikon lenses on my new Canon T2i, which I purchased for video work. I was even more skeptical after purchasing some of the $10 adapters from Hong Kong, which did not fit tightly and made it difficult to focus cleanly. But I gave it one last shot by purchasing the Fotodiox Pro adapter – and it paid off big time. The adapters work great, and are tight fitting. There’s no loss of light whatsoever, and you can focus fully throughout the entire range. It’s well worth the extra money to purchase these and put your Nikon glass to work.

I purchased this adapter because I was so frustrated and disappointed with the Cinevate EOS to Nikon adapter. I promise it is worth the extra money to buy this adapter. It is SO much easier to remove, the construction is more durable, the infinity focus is perfect – I am very happy with this adapter in comparison. Buy it.

Peace.

I accidentally ordered this thinking it would give me aperture control for lenses that don’t have it, but it doesn’t. It was my mistake. Otherwise this thing does exactly what it says. It fits snug, nice metal quality build and pin snapping. You could actually order it and set the aperture with your Nikon then once set, remove the lens and place it on the Canon. I forgot to try it and see if it worked, but I’m sure it does. It would save you the money of having to pay for the $200+ Cinevate adapter ring with aperture control.
